Amaranth
Ehrenhalt
Very
far from the abstract artists of the fifties, Amaranth Ehrenhalt continues
to follow her own path. She was friendly with all the leaders of abstract
expressionism, followed the same masters and the same influences,
but never abandoned her own research.
It
is fantastic to see an artist work so much and develop her works day
after day without ever contradicting what she previously created.
If
you look at her works from the late fifties and those from the nineties,
you find not a radical change, but a slow and carefully thought out
evolution. That is why Amaranth's present works are a culmination
of her artistic vision. You find continuity in her paintings, watercolours,
etchings, tapestries and ceramics.
From
her works comes a force, astonishingly both stunning and fragile.
Stunning from her painting spread out on the canvas with vigour, where
you find brushstrokes firm and forthright; fragile, from her light
colors that make you think of a new springtime.
